Winter in October

Happy Halloween! It has been a crazy few days. This weekend was the Jr. High retreat for the youth group. I went as a leader and it was my first youth group retreat as a leader instead of a student. I went on so many with my youth group when I was in high school. I will be honest I was nervous to go because I didn’t know many of the students that well and quite frankly Jr. Highers kind of frighten me. But after a weekend with them I definitely know them better now! It was a lot of fun but I got hardly any sleep. I really hope all the girls like me!

While on the retreat I also got to see my first Virginia snow! I don’t think I have ever seen snow in October. But it was pretty. It made me really miss home though. Whenever it snowed we always got so much at our house. It is all melted by now. I thought it was going to be a white Halloween!

This is my first Halloween both as a wife and a Virginia resident. I was very excited to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters because I never got to where we lived. Our house was up a mile long driveway and as much as kids love candy I don’t think they loved it enough to come get it from us! Josh and I didn’t really know if kids in apartment complexes trick-or-treated but we always see kids running around so we went ahead and bought a 75 count bag of candy. But it is 9:46 and we didn’t get a single knock on the door. I feel disappointment in my soul but a feeling of joy in my stomach…
