2016

Apparently I haven't made a new blog post since my post about 2015. But I couldn't miss doing my annual year end review. I know some people find it cheesy or annoying to do this, but I think it is important (and really just fun) to reflect on some of the good things that have happened throughout the year. So here we go!

I'm not going to say that 2016 was the best year yet. Because it wasn't. I said that about 2015 I think. This is proof that I really don't just say that every year (haha)! I think that from a world view, a lot of not so good things happened this year. But I really don't want to focus on the bad.

In my personal life, some really great things happened this year! So let's take a look...

In April, we go to go to Mexico! It was a fun cruise experience (minus my bout of seasickness). We saw the Lands End Arch, did some snorkeling, hiked to a waterfall, watched sea lions hop on the back of boats, drove a mini speed boat, and did a lot of beach lounging! It was my first time in Mexico and Josh's first time vacationing there, though he had been for missions trips before. The most beautiful place we visited in Mexico was easily Puerto Vallarta. I hope to go back there someday!

In May, our second nephew was born! We got to go down to Texas to meet him and have some quality snuggle time. Nash is such a happy little guy and we love him so much! Being an auntie to Gavin and Nash has opened up a part of my heart that I didn't even know existed.

During that same trip to Texas, we also visited San Antonio and saw The Alamo. It was pretty cool.

In July we moved into our first three bedroom apartment! It was the first time in our five years of marriage that we had something bigger than a one bedroom! It has been really great having room for an office for Josh to work on his Master's (which he will be done with in the spring- woohoo!). I have also loved having a guest room for our family and friends to stay in when they visit us. No more sleeping on the couch for our guests! I guess this is the only photo I have from when we moved into the new apartment. Jack thought we got a whole bedroom just for him!

Gavin also turned one in July! I was glad I got to be there for that. He is so much fun and I love him so much!

August was really busy but really fun. We visited Crater Lake which was something I've been wanting to see for a long time! It is a really amazing thing to see and pictures don't do it justice. I highly recommend visiting Crater Lake if you haven't yet! It was also our first time camping together. We had a few mishaps, but it was a fun time. We also celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary on this trip! We have had a very adventurous five years of marriage so far, and it has been so fun. I love that five years in we are still experiencing firsts together!

I have made several trips to the Oregon Coast, which anyone who knows me knows is my absolute favorite place. Just being able to go there whenever I want has been awesome. I am really loving living in Oregon!

And most recently we visited California and I finally got to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios! I have been a Harry Potter fan since I was about 10 years old and I have wanted to visit the wizarding world since the one in Orlando opened a couple of years ago. It was so much fun! Harry Potter is the one thing I get really nerdy about so it was really cool to see! I won't go into all of the nerdy details but I will just say how awesome it was to drink butterbeer, pick out a wand at Olivander's, and eat lunch at The Three Broomsticks. So cool!

Throughout the year I also made a few kayaking trips (one of my favorite things to do), hiked Spencer's Butte for the first time, tried lots of new restaurants in Eugene, visited my cousin in Bellingham, turned 24, and made some new friends. I got to visit some new places both locally here in Oregon and places a little farther away. It may not have been the "best year ever" but I really got to do/enjoy some really fun and neat stuff. I think when you sit down and lay out all of the good things you got to experience, there are a lot more than you may think.

Overall I had a pretty good year, but I am very exited for a new year to start. I can't wait to see what new things and places 2017 brings me! I hope you all can remember some good things that happened to you this year and I pray that everyone has an amazing 2017! Happy New Year everyone!
